Psy­chics take over at Seven

Do we live in a world where psy­chics can solve crimes, inves­ti­gate Australia’s great­est mys­ter­ies and diag­nose ill­ness by mere touch?

Well Chan­nel Seven clearly thinks we do. Enter its lat­est offer­ing The One a show where seven of Australia’s most switched on mys­tics will use their para­nor­mal skills to com­pete to be named Australia’s great­est psychic.

But the chal­lenges they will face won’t be easy.

One of the tests involves a young boy ‘lost’ in the bush. The com­peti­tors will have to use their abil­i­ties to home-in of his location.

Another will involve the psy­chics try­ing to find a sin­gle piece of con­tra­band in one of 70 ship­ping containers.

A third will see them taken to a gaol in Mel­bourne to find the bones of Ned Kelly.

As you’d expect the com­peti­tors are a mixed bunch.

There’s a 44-year-old pagan Witch, Rayleen who reg­u­larly uses her gifts to help police, and Jason a 37-year-old maths genius with an IQ of 160 who aban­doned his med­ical degree to study phi­los­o­phy after a near-death experience.

But the con­tes­tants aren’t going to get an easy ride. One of the two judges who will decide who goes each week will be Richard Saun­ders a life­long para­nor­mal myth-buster and for­mer Pres­i­dent of ‘Aus­tralian Skeptics’.

Join­ing Saun­ders as a judge is Witch Stacey DeMarco. While the judges will decide who goes week to week – the pub­lic will decide by phone vot­ing who is ‘The One’ of the last two contestants.

Dur­ing the show the psy­chics will dis­play a range of skills from Clair­voy­ance to Psy­chom­e­try or object read­ing, from Remote View­ing to Medi­umship (speak­ing to the dead). Telepa­thy and For­tune Telling will also feature.
