Can Meditation Make It Bigger?

Before you get any ideas, let me tell you what this is about:

A group of researches at UCLA have shown that meditation increases brain gray matter!

Here's an excerpt of the report on the research:

In a study published in the journal NeuroImage and currently available online (by subscription), the researchers report that certain regions in the brains of long-term meditators were larger than in a similar control group.

Specifically, meditators showed significantly larger volumes of the hippocampus and areas within the orbito-frontal cortex, the thalamus and the inferior temporal gyrus — all regions known for regulating emotions.

We know that people who consistently meditate have a singular ability to cultivate positive emotions, retain emotional stability and engage in mindful behavior," said Eileen Luders, lead author and a postdoctoral research fellow at the UCLA Laboratory of Neuro Imaging. "The observed differences in brain anatomy might give us a clue why meditators have these exceptional abilities.

Mind-consciousness researcher Stephan Schwartz explains this better than I do, so if you haven't checked him out yet, be sure you find out from him why meditation can not just increase you brain size, but also expand your consciousness, and the quality of your life.

I have been involved with meditations for 35 years, starting at a very early age with T. M. and I am a hypnotist. The Remote Viewing has been extreemly empowering. Here's hoping for a long and rewarding journey.

Meditation was a way of life with our ancestors and they were in a more intelligent mode.....invented things for us to use today! It's really a way of life

I haven't read the report or related material, but I am a hypnotist and have had surprising success removing unwanted blemishes from my own body via positive suggestions and meditation. I know we have no idea of the potential of the human mind. Can't wait to see what we discover about it next.

meditation also increases over a period of time your dna level. We collectively need to raise our dna sequencing to reach the next level of humanity. Namely the next dimension which will approxamate before and during 12/21/12. By meditating using the sun as afocus above, then bringing the light into your soul and letting it expand and bring all the good thoughts with it. Then let it explode from your soul into the grids.

    Surely, meditation is powerful thing.

Recently, about a year ago I attended basic 'Art of living' course. Beside of powerful and healing asanas I learned breathe technique. I usually meditate after this process.

Every time I feel more relaxed and positive!

Perhaps the fact of possesing the genetic trait of a larger hippocampus predisposes the individual to the inclination to the practice meditation due to physical ability as opposed to enlargement attributed to practice of meditation, which I would find hard to believe.

It has been proven that the brain actually changes physically depending upon what one concentrates upon. Read Norman Doidge's "The Brain that Changes Itself" for more info. Modern neuroscience has demonstrated thatthe brain grows and changes, dveleoping new neurons, in processes that last throughout one's lifetime. Research the topics of neuroplasticity and neurogenesis.

Everything that we were formerly taught about the brain's development has been proven inaccurate. It makes sense, using our present knowledge, to discover that continued meditation will change the structure of the brain.

I went from not being able to sleep (no matter what I consumed or tried), being angry much of the time, and anxiously waiting for my life to get better...because of meditation I now feel much more calm and satisfied. I also sleep like a rock without taking or drinking anything...Thank you meditation! I think maybe it saved my life...
