Born with no shin bones, one would think that Aimee Mullins would be happy to lead a "normal" life. But there was no way she was going to settle for that. Instead she became an Olympic Athlete, a model, an actress, and an inspiration.
It's hard to think that she was at one point called "disabled". Far from it, she's proof that the human spirit can triumph over anything it sets its mind to.

She's another reminder that we have control over our thoughts, our actions, and ultimately our reality. If we can tap into the power of our human spirit, reach into our subconscious, and dictate our goals, we're sure to achieve them.

Aimee Mullins simply words what I have been feeling for some time ...Nothing is impossible if you don't think it is ...After listening to her, you just want to go and dance with her and the Universe ...Wonderful and inspiring !

This came to me at the most beautiful, adverse and challenging & opportune time!!
I am a mom to a wonderfully, challenging and beautiful five year old. who came into this world w/some challenges that NO ONE has a name for!!
For three years her and I spent five days a week with a different therapist every day. The next year 1/2 would see us running to various therapy appointments every week.
I have always told her 'she can' - she has always told me, "mama, i try."
Today my biggest challenge is how to support us daily and continue to help her with her challenges that she faces daily - mainly her 'high anxiety' that is pervasive through out the day.
My thoughts continue along the phrase of 'How can I?' as opposed to 'this is impossible'
When I find the answer I will let you know. But for now 'adversity' is not about being impossible it is giving in to the possibility that it can change you and improve your life if you choose to let it.

Iam labeled as a disabled person bcause of a mental illness to some people and i always believe that im not and i always get critisized as a person that cant do what i want.....well she is a good role model to look up to for everyone .

Every child in every school, every teacher every parent every paediatrician,every child carer should be shown this as a crucial part of life and learning. I will certainly be showing this to my children so they can truly believe in their own self worth, esteem and potential in a way I never couldnt find.
