Okay, so if you're like most people out there, chances are you've seen Inception. And if you haven't, don't worry, I'm not going to give away any spoiler alerts. But even though I saw it, paid attention, and sat through the entire thing, I've got a confession: I don't get it.
I mean, I get the gist of it. I get the whole implanting an idea in someone's brain thing. I get the general story. But there's also a lot that I just don't understand.
And I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way either. But before I go any further, for those who haven't seen it, check out the trailer. It's really good.
This movie toys a lot with reality and dreams and the blending of the two so yes, there are parts that get a little tricky. I'm not saying I didn't like the movie. I loved it. And I really recommend you go see it, but just don't expect to get a clear cut Disney beginning, middle and end.
But here's my big question for you. Do you think this is possible? How secure are our minds and consciousness? Is it possible for someone to penetrate our minds and take and give ideas? It's a slightly unnerving topic but I wanted to get your opinions on this.

I'm really excited to get a discussion going on about this. I usually don't care for the big Hollywood blockbusters but this one really surprised me.
I admit , Inception was a good Movie , im not sure if its totally Sane though to say its actually possible ,( like dreaming withindreaming) , its something like the Matrix series , which makes up something which can be thought of but not felt.
I believe our mids are as open to be read like a book by someone whos been in close proximity like a partner or parent , then its possible to predict what one would do in certain situations. I believe mind reading is possible and can be done but not ordinarily , Trancendental meditation is one of the known techniques whereby this is possible. I have tried to read people ( dont do it anymore) .So i would say itsquite possible to implanyt ideasinto people.Also mind reading is possible.

Hi Michael, I have not seen Inception but will now get it. It looks great. I work in emotional intelligence and work with clients on there belief systems. Yes I totally believe that our minds are open to influence by others all the time and because we have no natural fire wall and virus checking systems we can be influenced by both positive intent and negative intent. All my life I have battled with my own inner script telling me that this is good and that is bad. I will look at the film with very open eyes and give you feed back once I have seen it. Be amazing! there is a personal firewall, it just has to be tuned to it to work properly. It's kinda like those auric vision things and bunch of everything else, you already have the "ability" or whatever, they just need to be tuned to give the maximum power. There are lots of different techniques for that ranging from yoga to some kind of shamanism, chinese tai chi things ext.., and actually theres some in the bible too. There's lot of mentalists and psychics at these days who I promise will find stuff about your life and can implement their ideas if you dont know how to watch out for that.. And talking 'bout is it possible for someone to penetrate our minds and give ideas?, I say yes for basing it only to my knowledge of tv-industry.. commercial-tv.. Even that movie has influenced your mind, and in many ways I promise? Do you remember the music on the film? I bet you dont remember even a note, but thats one of the most mind influencing powers in movies ext.. And thats only one.. But if you think about the other half of the story can someone take your idea? First of all, you have to get the idea.. And when you do, it's very possible that you give it away yourself..
afterall I believe that "other side"of yourself is giving and taking ideas to you and from you.. Divide yourself and see it yourself.
Actually just remembered that there has been some study to the implementing ideas part and it gave some positive reactions, but of course it couldn't have any scientific bases 'couse they couldn't measure the effect...
First off, I was not a fan of the movie. It felt like a Matrix knock off. There were so many more wonderful ways they could have gone with imagination and creation of dream state realities. Although not confusing to me, it focused on so many complexities, rather than a "good strong story/plot". Just my opinion.
On to the question... The power of suggestion is so strong. I felt the movie made this much more complex than it really is. Really, is it so difficult to communicate in a way that makes someone think that it was "their" idea, "their" concept? I can say, my Mother is a pro at this, I am not even close
She is good at getting people to think, to reason through to a conclusion with little effort. Even Hermetics suggests to adhere to that which is subtle through care and wisdom.Could this be the begining of an idea, the creation of something... everything, every goal, every result stemming from one little thought, idea, seed... and then carried on the wind (wavelengths through conciousness) to bring your idea into fruition. Does this make us creators of our Universe, is that blasphemy...

I do think its possible to plant ideas in someones mind - BUT - its upto that person - to execute them or no - as I think - that each one of us is in control of our mind - unless you are under deep hypnosis or on drugs - so if you are grounded and aware - nobody can really *make* you do things - as per their whims and fancies - wouldnt it defeat the whole purpose of *free will*

I would agree, except I find myself buying something I don't really want and then see the commercial on TV and realize THAT'S why I bought a particular brand or item. VERY disconcerting.
The movie was quite interesting in away since it is an exention of guided meditation and hypnotism. Concepts we know are powerful mind tools for making feel better about themselfs at a subconcious level which transposes into consious action for the good of the person. What it will not do is get secrets out of you. You still have a guard under hynotism and that is free will so you will not do anything you do not want to do that goes against this guard. If you could get round the guard by use of drugs then that could be a different matter that is morally wrong.
Yes, it is possible to influence another mind. But......it is very hard indeed to influence someone to go counter to their own moral values. A weak personality is easier to influence than a strong one. By strong, I mean one with a solid sense of self, a personal good of right and wrong. Not necessesarily a good person, just one with a definite identity, and not just ego either.
I have not seen the film. I will make a point of it, for I love tearing apart the premise on which films are based. Deep impact? Physics says that if they'd left the damn asteroid alone it would have missed Earth. It was the change in trajectory that caused the catastrophe, but I digress.
Most people who have trained enough and studied enough to be able to directly and instantaneously affect another person's mind who have a big moral dilemma in actually doing so.

Isn't that what hypnotism is all about? You "plant the seed, that when you hear a bell sound, you will cluck like a chicken". I have not seen the movie, but I think it is similar to hypnotism, except you aren't furnishing the solution. You are encouraging finding a solution. Once the solution is found, the idea is "harvested". I think could be possible to a degree.
Through meditation I've made things happen, 1/2 hour of concentration on all the positive things related to cooking bread made my sister and some neighbors start cooking bread. Putting my thought at stand by after entering a bus, coming back to into physical consciousness, the first thing I sensed was the presence of a friend living on the bus route, when we passed his home he entered the bus and we enjoyed the bus ride together, this happened 3 times in a row with different people, last time the friend didn't live near the bus route and I first concluded that the two other incidents were coincidences, but when he entered the bus I no longer doubted, but asked whether I was predicting the future or whether I was creating the future. I learned that I was creating the future, and it scared me, what damage might I do to other people, making them do things they didn't intend to do? I was told not to worry, but also not to misuse the gift, if misused the "backfiring" would be severe. Later on in life I've made many things happen through meditation/thoughts. Namaste

Of course our minds energy and imagination are what create, but the greater your mind has ability the more you need to filter all of your decisions through your heart. A mind is a terrible thing to listen to lest it be refined with the love that feeds its capabilities. On that note which is surely contrary to popular belief no one can control your heart, because there are so many we do love, and even more we need to love. This is not to say one cannot pull your heart strings, but one string, regardless of the diameter of it compared to others you love, does not compare to the enormous ball of Love you have to give. So love all, all the time give it out without need to rhyme, no condition or ill intent and our daze will clear as our rebirths vent. We need not die to resurrect . Our time has come to see our power is endless if with love we shower each moment or chance of any single circumstance. The only thing we can control in any way is our own response our "PMA" Positive Mental Attitude. So send out the thoughts we can all feel them well, especially if it was from your heart to tell.

Hi Michael, I watched the film inception and the time dilation figures, at least for the first level, are reasonably correct. Our minds are wide open to outside influence. How do so few, hold most of the wealth and control so many? The word 'program' in the sentence ' your TV program guide', speaks volumes.
The word spell is used to de-scribe a process in language and magic. Its no coincidence that a process used to program thought is called spelling and those that repeatedly read sentences through wrote learning, become sentenced. There is little or no mention at school of the 'internal' dialogue and its effects of behaviour.
inception makes a process that has been going on inside us all since learning to spell, look complicated and hard to achieve, when in reality mind control is happening on a day to day basis.
I spent the best part of 40 years as a Psychiatric nurse and later as a Psychotherapist. Changing minds is very possible, knowing when and how to do so is important. Clients who have fears, phobias and obsessions are very happy to get rid of these.

Hello Charlotte. I find your question "where do you think ideas come from" very interesting. I have been doing a little research on the web and asking doctors and others with special knowledge of the brain and mind but no one can give me an answer as to where do thoughts and ideas originate. Somewhere in the brain an electro chemical reaction takes place that eventually results in a thought but what originates the electro-chemical reaction? What decides to initiate an electro-chemical reaction? Is it our conciousness?
I have been watching a series of youtube videos that relate to Hypnosis and NLP influencing, and boy ! A person even was influenced to believe red was black ! Ouch ! Without a deep trance ! So there is the possibility that a lot of what appears as spiritual evolution might just be suggestion and mind conditioning.... Need to research further.
I did see the movie and had alot of questions as well. The outcome I believed it to be was not what others thought!
I believe that our minds can be altered by influences around us, but also believe that you need to follow your heart and internal instinct. That little voice that always helps guide you!
I have not seen the movie, but to answer your question, read PSYCHIC DISCOVERIES BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN by Sheila Ostrander and Lynn Schroeder (the original 1970 edition). They do discuss the possibility of remote control of another person's mind. However, this book was republished after the Iron Curtain came down to include things they learned since their original book was published. It also included a condensed version of their original book, but htat version failed to include one of the most important paragraphs that had to do with an experiment in which a weak magnetic field was appkied to an aquarium and the fish were found to respond to it. That was an important clue, but even the autthors missed its significance. ALSO consider reiki which can work at a distance but apparently requires that the reiki master has a photo of the target person or can talk to the that perons on the phone. Room does not permit me to mention any more at this time, but this idea must be taken very seriously.
I am of the opinion that 95% of our reactions to every day events comes from the subconscious mind. The things we have in our subconscious mind dictate our reaction. Therefore, it is not only possible, but is a reality that we can be affected, influenced and coerced by mind intrusion. We do have the power to fight back, by training our minds to think in a certain way, ( Wallace D. Wattles, "The Science of getting Rich"). Life is a series of battles, and we must be constantly vigil against outside influence. Essentially, we choose what is reality for ourselves, and perception is the key.
"fighting back" is not the answer. when I have a problem/intrusion rather than expend energy unnecessarily I disconnect/remove myself from the situation/agitation and focus on something else and the agitation becomes void. I have used this successfully over the last 20 or so years of my life.

I liked the idea of the movie......and the possibilities of shared dreaming and dreams within dreams (which has happened to me). The potential for conversation after the film was more interesting than the film itself, which got very long and convoluted. Using Remote Influincing we can, indeed, influence anothers reality. I was extremely disappointed that there wasn't more use of the "528" energy which was the reason i went in the first place. 528 is the frequency of love, harmony and creation (google Dr. Len Horowitz) and was only referred to in passing.

I haven't seen Inception. But I have done some experiments while beeing in Alpha. Before I ever heard of Alpha brainwaves, I frequently wook up between 4 and 5 in the morning, feeling emotions that obviously weren't mine. I then felt someone I knew -but had no longer contact with- close. Years later I read about Alpha and I realised that if someone dear to me connects in Alpha, I wake up and know who is there.
I started to experiment. Someone who came too close and flirted too much at my work with me, I asked in Alpha to keep distance, using a hypnotic script i wrote in case he'd contact me in Alpha. I asked for a specific uncounsious but defenitely recognisable sign to give me if he got the message. The very next day his behaviour had changed towards me, no more flirtations, and was strictly bussiness, but friendly. The specific sign however, came at an unsuspected time during a meeting, but 3 weeks later! I was astonished. He was so obviously unaware of the sign he gave me, but it was so clear the posthypnotic suggestion I gave him. I don't know if putting ideas in someone's head is possible, but I am convinced that people can be influenced when in sync in Alpha.

well i have not seen the movie, but i had the opportunity to use thought to impose concepts or emotions on others. when showing people how to balance their chakras, i have sent thoughts to a person that they look as though their health is not up to snuff. both in thought and also verbally declaring it. both caused tested energy levels to drop. the flip side is that energy (like water) seeks its own level. in so saying i the best defense is a constant offense of positive and powerful thought.
"Inception" was an awesome movie, and I actually think I followed it throughout. Do we have multiple levels of mind? Yes, since we're multidimensional beings and science posits that there are at least 10 dimensions. And the idea of a dream within a dream was used by Shakespeare and other writers hundreds of years ago, so there's nothing really new there. If there are multiple dimensions we can tap into, then life itself and what we call "reality" may be a dream, as posited by Calderon, again hundreds of years ago.
Can we be manipulated at more than one level or dimension of mind? Very likely, since we know that advertising, both overt and subliminal, is attempting to manipulate our every purchase, our every move. And if we're being manipulated subliminally, then doesn't that constitute multidimensional manipulation?
And what about the Bush government's reaction to 9/11? Nearly everybody in the country was in fear over the attack, which gave the government an opportunity to impinge on many of our basic freedoms, in our "best interests," of course. Public relations operate at all levels--in government, business, religion, you name it.
But I believe the movie "Inception" also showed us that at every level of mind, the individual will fight hard to maintain autonomy. It seems to me that's what all the vehicles with armed "protectors" were at each dream level. We want to maintain our freedom to make our own choices. And whether we can ultimately do that at all levels of consciousness may be determined by what emotion informs our choices.
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross often said that inside each of us is a little Hitler at one end of the spectrum and a little Mother Theresa at the other end of the spectrum, and that what informs our choices is whether we come from fear or from love, which are the only two emotions we can experience. The masters and gurus of all the world's spiritual paths tell us that if we come from fear, we make ourselves susceptible to the attacks of others. To be invulnerable, it becomes necessary to come from unconditional love, which means having no stake in any outcome. (Easier said than done!)

The mind is both powerful and pliable. There is solid evidence to support either condition. My wife is living proof of how wide the range of potential is, both good and bad. She is a professional who also happens to be an out of control prescription drug addict. Needless to say, we are separated. But, I have witnessed the range that the state of mind can roam.

But, I do believe our minds can be "hijacked" and our dreams used. Many, many times I have had the impression that my mind was being read and my thoughts used - especially, when a short time later my dreams, thoughts and/or ideas show up in a book, TV show or movie or as a product in stores.
I used to think that a lot of great ideas were shared by The One and whoever could act on it faster got to use the idea to their advantage.
However, there have been too many times that I have known someone was inside looking around. Why are they probing into my mind? I do not know. But, they have been there...

How secure your mind is depends on your emotional state and your understanding of its workings. The nature of reality is far more complex than any of us understand.
Is it possible for others to influence our thinking? What do you think politicians, salespeople, religious gurus, advertising agents, our parents, society, doctors and bankers do all day? How do you think suicide bombers come to be? Why do you think we take drugs, drink alcohol, eat foods that all harm us in the mistaken belief that these are actually our own choices?
Conditioning is the biggest form of control and societies use it, albeit often ignorantly, to create a matrix of reality that keeps us prisoners of that reality. Allowing others to penetrate our personal minds may be a worry, but not being able to break out of the constraints of that same mind is an equally daunting worry. But such is the nature of polarities.
Several years ago I did a course in Astral Travel, one of the exercises was for us to induce an OBE and meet up on Mt Everest at a nominated time and discuss it at the following meeting. I was new at this, so I was unable to, but 2 of the students who didn't know each other outside the course related their experiences and the 2 had obviously met and their stories were a match.
With perseverance I got better and contrary to all my expectations I found myself on the other side and was taken on a conducted tour of life after death. I am no fan of science fiction movies, but The Matrix, Vanilla Sky and Inception are so close to my experiences and subsequent understanding of that reality that I cannot dismiss them as fiction, and I might add my experiences took place long before I saw these movies.
I have experienced many lucid dreams and have woken up inside a dream and a dream within a dream, and again long before I saw Inception.
Consciously or unconsciously the writers of these movies are accessing realities which are the stage of our next level of evolution. That's what 2012 is about.

this was before i did total lucid dreaming, now i just enjoy dreams and wake up in them, when its fun to do so.

i took a night off, and built dream nightmare machines, (that still exist, i upgrade them once and a while)
i went into his mind, found all of his possessions, (which were i guess very important to him, ) and had all my nightmare machines 1,000's of them rip his world apart.
funny he didn't care about his own life, or his family, just his stupid belongings.
next day, he moved out of town, and i have never heard from him again.

Just saw the movie today and it was awesome. And yes it is totally possible. I have been knowingly and intentionally doing it for 10 years. There is one person who I continually confuse my waking thoughts with and I fully believe these thoughts are mine. I know I am in this persons head just as much. I have worked with children and adults. BTW, there are certain people currently in political power who used these concepts to get there.

Is Inception possible? Perhaps, there is so much of the human mind that is not used. I beleive we may be on the verge of evolving to a point that we develope our mental, subconscious powers and there are many who beleive in the combined consciousness. If remote viewing and Astral projection are possible, then perhaps the implanting of ideas is also a future possibility.

I think that if you can control other's minds, you yourself can be controlled also. You can't have your rule of the universe apply to everyone but yourself.

I saw the movie and was disappointed as it did not cover in any depth this topic of influencing and/or affecting one's dreams, thought, etc. We are being manipulated on such a subtle level. I reommend reading books on NeuroLinguistic Programming so you can recognize these techniques when they are being used on you. Very subtle work.

Do I think that it is possible to implant ideas in people's brains? I say it's child's play! I need only look around my world to see that it's being done on a grand scale. And there can be no doubt that the greatest tool ever invented to accomplish the task of relieving one of his or her free will is the television. I could write for hours on the subject as it has been my passion for nearly twenty years. It is my well considered opinion that most have had precious few of thoughts that they could genuinely call their own in their lives!
Remember back in the late 60's. Television commercials got into trouble with subliminal messages hidden in the commercial telling you to buy their product? Well, it really worked, that is why is was stopped because it was dangerous and unfair marketing practice. It told your subconscious what to get, with out your knowledge. And that was just a single flash of the product mixed in with the regular commercial. Pretty slick.
mind security? I beleive that is depends on the indivial speaking and how the company
listening clearly understands what is being said is believes it to be true. A Speaker that
speaks the truth and believies in what they say, will install the believalbe important- pick -up
-information and the listner will be more likely to have a mind change. sorry about the spelling

Ok. I have seen the movie -Inception . Is very interesting .
Yes ,is true that can take somebody in a Lucid dream . I know how it is .I have had this experience with a person who at that time , was interested in this technique , Lucid dream .
And as in this movie , you can't get inside this information if you don't know at least a few things about mind , memory ,dreams ,emotions and control .
They take in this movie , some drugs , to enter deeper .This can be dangerous .
But can use music to enter in delta state of mind .Or have to rise your energetical level higher .
The movie is very complex and full of informations if you know to 'read' it .
Do not expect to understand at the first side this movie , have to see again ,and again ,pieces from this journey ,to analise piece with piece .There are a few stages of the dream there .Have to be a specialist , in the art of dreaming and in the science of the mind ,or just to be a visionary person , a dreamer one ..
The art of dreaming is a complex process because our mind is complex .
But this movie is a fantastic example to study this subject .
We are so influenced by the media and our own family telling our minds what is right and wrong by our culture rules we grow a certain direction. TV and movies now employ flashes that work at hypnotizing their audience. All kinds of things by all kinds of people are always trying to influence us to do something against our "Spiritual Will."
Society even demands us to have a job and influences us that those who don't are lesser for not doing their part.
The Laws of self and how to live a proper respectful life are encoded in our soul. It is through mediation and reconnection with the Creator of all that is that we come unto ourselves and live life purposefully and wholly.
Understanding this I was given a meditation by the creator on how to protect your mind and souls knowledge and grow forthright and bring inner peace to the self. I now find myself on the outside looking in at all those running around under the influence of other s and reacting to what really is important to life.
It is time we disconnect with the controllers and start running our own lives in harmony with spirit and nature as God intended.
I believe that this thing that we all call life,is a dream. Most of us are all dreaming.To wake up from this dream,is to become enlightened.That is what enlightenment is about, waking up,and the only way out this mess. I know that mind manipulation is possible.It's been going on forever.The government's and other private parties however have been investing, researching, and developing these techniques for quite some time now.They have made leap's and bound's this area.Unfortunately for mostly the wrong reasons.I totally related to Inception,and do believe that this kind of mind manipulation is possible.For us that are out of the elite group that is informed,we can only imagine how far they have advanced.This much I feel certain of though,and that is that we are only informed minutely.We only know what they want us to know for programing purposes.If you want to know or realize more,you have to think out of the box.The truth can be extremely scary stuff to look at for most people,so most people don't.Fortunately thank's to the internet more and more people are waking up. Thanks Michael for raising this topic. I watched the movie one week ago. Shocked! Definitely will get back and watch it again. I love it very much as it triggers one's thoughts like a gushing well. For me a lot of metaphors are coded there, for instance:
1. A dream in dream in dream..
This is a real picture of our reality in polarity world. Actually as we are living in this world at this moment, it is just within one "dream" of a web of unlimited dreams (not just 3), no beginning, no end. Above us, there are unlimited ones, and below us there are also unlimited ones. Like a fracas.
2. Go back to home: one more last dream
Then I ask myself, if you have a unlimited levels of dream (dimensions) are above you, and unlimited ones below you, what is the point of your level, it is just meaningless, as everything is relative, you can say you are at the right side, or the left side, up or down...all depends on which reference you are using.
Same in the movie, the guy lost in his dream after dream...never get the change to see the real home (represented by his child)....then come the concept of "one more last dream" to go back to "home". That is what I am asking myself. What will be our last dream as human being? the one that will finish all this endless illusions and back to the pure reality, the home run?
3. Love is the tool to bring us back to home
The motivation/link that finally brings him out of the maze and back to home is his desires to see the face of his beloved child. The symbol of love. I am feeling strange it did not using the metaphor of the love of a father (as we all perceived the image of GOD/source as a father). Of course, when he got back to home finally at the end of the movie, his father welcomes him and a nice reunion. But it feels not an important part of the movie compared with the children.
4. the "kick": the pain/event/drama we have to go thought to emerge into another world.
whenever a dream is getting to the end, it usually came with a lot of chaos/pain/drama...such as the explosion, death, car falling into the water etc. in the movie, they called it "kicks" (the triggers?). It is interesting that when one fall sleep, there is a physiology phenomenon called "kick" as well. Dr. explains it as the jerk of your leg muscle during a certain stage of sleep. Spiritual person explains it as the moment when your astral body leaves your physical body (if the moves is too hush),as it pull your astral cord suddenly. For me it is the moment when the "bubble" of a dream gets burst, and then you get into another bubble of dream. Then I asked myself, will 2012 is just a kick that "send" us to another dimension? if yes, is this the home run or just another one?
5. Let it go; otherwise you stuck in the cage of the old reality.
each one's reality is formed by one believing system. Your believe system like a matrix of reference which defines your position (reality) through the relationship with your surrounding (just like you define your location in a map). Without reference, you are not exiting in this world. You need a reference to define yourself. If you change your reference, your position changes, so is your reality and environment; however, if you keep sticking with your old reference system, you can not change your reality. These holding points are the memory. Like in that movie, the hold is his guilty feeling toward his wife. It prevents him from getting back to home. So we have to let it go so as to be able to move on to another page/reality.
It is interesting in the movie, to visit his deep memory (his wife), that guy was taking an elevator sending him deep down. A same metaphor used by Gerald to visit our own subconscious, also the interface of the universal mind at the very bottom...I was doing this lesson today, and that image of movie keeps coming to my mind interfering me...kind funny.
In short, this is a very deep and interesting movie, and each ones will get things different from it, just like the movie of Avatar. The above are just some thoughts of mine to share with you. Hope to get comments from here as I don't know what I understand is right or not.
