On a day of Thanksgiving to The One - Message from Gerald O’Donnell
I’ve just received email from Gerald O’Donnell with Techniques to help you enter the gateway to happiness. Read on to find more, you will like it, it’s very interesting!
“A new holidays’ season is upon us. On this day it is customary in the United States to thank the
Almighty One at the close of a year’s harvest for all the blessings that He has bestowed upon us, which are far greater than the inconveniences. It is a thanks giving day.
I do find this to be a beautiful tradition which we should strive to uphold every single day of our lives, for in truth, freely bestowed gifts are always the greatest portion of our yearly harvest.
As of myself and the academy I want to offer thanksgiving for having you as my friends and hope that the seed we humbly offer germinates into a beautiful season and harvest of happiness, love, and beautiful manifestations.
I think that it would be appropriate here to once again share this series of three very powerful exercises which I know most of us should make an integral part of our daily lives for their effects are far reaching as they dissolve many old preprogrammed patterns of thoughts. They truly should allow you to reach the point where every day is but a Thanksgiving day that bathes you in warm feelings of connectedness, gratitude and happiness. In the upcoming times of very positive changes for humanity which may seem at first quite unsettling and difficult to many, this way at focusing and seeing only the miraculous and beautiful in life will surprise you with its transformational power and allow you to navigate the events ahead.
Awareness Exercises to help you “surf” and stay smiling through the end of one era of time and the beginning of a new one.
The next three exercises are intended to be done at home on a daily and ongoing basis. They will open up a new level of awareness and prepare you for advanced personal and spiritual development.
Exercise 1: A New Way of Being
This first exercise is a pleasurable and powerful life-changing tool. The effects of daily stress associated with materialistic obsession (and its by-products: anxiety, isolation, frustration, fear, anger and depression) can be dissolved by this technique. It is at the same time simple and very profound. It increases greatly the vibratory rate of your non-physical Higher Self. Its premise is “smile at the world and the world will smile back at you.”
As you go about your daily activities, from the moment you get up in the morning up to the the time that you go back to sleep, constantly imagine that you are smiling inwardly at your outer reality as you go about your daily activities. Imagine that you are smiling from the deeper recesses of your mind, originating from within your heart area, and that you are projecting that happiness and smile outward through your eyes and expression. No matter what the circumstances are. You will find increasingly that your eyes will be smiling and so will your mouth, that will often curl up to a slight smile.
At the same time imagine that your heart constantly expresses a great inward smile filled with pure joy of being alive, no matter what.
After 2 weeks or so, you will notice an incredible amount of changes, not only in the way you interact with the ‘outside’ world, but also in how the ‘world’ acts and projects reality toward you. Your fears will begin to abate and an inner feeling of peace and love will emerge. Notice how people seek your presence and ‘Inner Love.’
Exercise 2: The Witness
Set aside 5 minutes at first (keep increasing by 2-3 minutes every other day until you reach 20 minutes) and close your eyes. Turn your attention inward and, from being a ‘thinking’ human being, start viewing your thoughts as an independent observer in a detached remote manner, as if your thoughts were ‘things’ or a spectacle to watch. Watch the train of your thoughts and images, the succession of often unrelated thoughts that appear to you. Don’t analyze anything.
Learn to switch from the perception of being ‘in’ your thoughts to withdrawing from them and becoming the detached totally passive observer of them. Get the feeling for the mental shift that occurs when doing so. Go within the thoughts and then withdraw to a more detached level. After a while of repeating this exercise you will notice that your thoughts become more isolated and that your inner mind starts taking a break.
Now, here is the next part of the exercise. As you watch your train of thought (images or just concepts), pick up one particular thought that you find interesting and “plunge into it” with full concentration. Remain focused on that thought to the exclusion of others for as long as possible. If other thoughts interfere, do not push them away, but watch them pass by as if they were foreign ‘things’ in your consciousness. At first you might only be able to do this for maybe 1 minute or less. Slowly increase it up to 7 minutes.
The last part of the exercise consists of blanking your thoughts out. This is done by deciding to concentrate on perceptually dark nothingness. If a thought comes in, imagine throwing white light on it. Imagine that the light dissolves that thought and that the screen then goes back to nothingness. Try to maintain that state up to 5 minutes. Start with 1-2 minutes.
Exercise 3: The Movies
This exercise is the “going in and out of movies” exercise. All you need to do is to choose a good suspenseful motion picture and go watch it, preferably on a big screen. Try it also with hilarious comedies.
First, allow yourself to get immersed in the captivating story. As you forget about your identity and start becoming ‘within’ the plot of the scene, suddenly withdraw your awareness from the big screen (you may for the first time want to look a bit around you in the dark in order to remember ‘who you are’) and become the observer of reality again. Slowly reconnect to the plot, but this time, allow yourself to remain with the awareness of being yourself watching, as a spectator (observer), the reality projected in the movie. Keep this dual awareness for a moment and then let go and plunge within the movie action, forgetting your real inner self again. And then repeat the exercise over and over.
Keep on doing this mental withdrawal and then plunging in again, until you get to know intimately the feeling of withdrawing from ‘reality’ (aware of inner self) and diving back in it (aware of outer reality). Easy isn’t it? This simple exercise is very powerful.
As you get the knack of it try the same system as you go about your daily life. Use the same “mental trick” when engaged in your daily activities, especially the very ones that captivate you and are often associated with fear and stress. Soon, you will become aware at all times of being the ‘observer’ (inner self) observing the observed (reality and outer self) and become quite detached about it, enjoying your ‘movie’ in a much more relaxed and calm atmosphere.
I send you happy thoughts bathed in Love and Light and best wishes for the holiday season for you and yours.
You friend,
Gerald O’Donnell

Thank you very much for sending three very special and rewarding trick to enhance my happiness. The very first moment i started reading, it changed my feelings. Thank you very much.
Thank you, my friend, for your wise words. I wish you a most happy Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving and that you and others will make every day a day of thanks and gratitute for all we are blessed with, especially for special people in or lives, and gratitude to the One for the grace given by the One to be capable of forgiving others who have offended us, and genuinely do so, and accept a truly sincere apology. For after all, we all have our failures, we have all been the cause of harm to others, and it seems to be a rather childish and unevolved way of being to be unable or unwilling to fogive, and give someone a second chance when they have made it very, very clear, and have demonstrated profound remorse and vowed to never transgress the injured party again so long as they live. I personally am very grateful to the One that I am incapable of holding grudges, no matter how someone has harmed me, and i have been greatly harmed by many throughout my life, yet I carry no grudges in my heart or anger in my heart of apathy in my heart for anyone. And to tell the gods honest truth, if someone who has harmed me greatly at some time in my life and they were to knock at my door right now, I would invite them in, and welcome them. I would never hang up on them, if they had already made it clear they felt deep remorse for having caused me pain, i would forgive me and forget it, and let it go. For me, I feel blessed that I do not allow hatred to fester within me like a cancer as some people i know can not help themselves but do. This not only does a lot of damage to the injured party but is a cause at the most personal level of someone who is not really serious when they say they wish the world do be a world where we all live in harmony and communion. It is a sign of hypocrcacy in my book and i can only shake my head and feel very sorry for such tortured souls who the One has not given the grace that has been bestowed on me. I am not always proud of what i have done in my life, and, I think this is the reason that I do not hold grudges as i know i am far from perfect as we all are. I believe the “acid test” for a truly evolved person is their capacity to forgive and that they are no indifferent for indifference is worse than hate. At least when you hate someone they still exist for you, when you are indifferent you have, figuratively murdered them. Just my 2 cents.
I wish everyone a most enjoyable holiday and ask forgiveness for anything i have done or failed to do that is negative and i am always working to see that i will some day not need to ask anyone for forgiveness, but i think this is impossible, because as long as we are human we shall make mistakes, this is not an excuse, just a fact, and i strive to improve every single day. I feel privileged that i spend most of my days helping others a lot more than i do harming others.
Best,
Emily

Hi,
Ya know what?I work in a mental ward for the gove.I smile all the time.the pts.on the ward love me.I recieved a raise this year and an excellence award. My nurse supervisor said the Pts.always give me wonderful
coments.they request me when our ward is short on help.
the veterans even request i come in on my days off when they are short on help. Its very strange how laughter and a smile can help other people so much and make your day go alot better. All these things you have written up above for thanksgiveing to us,I already do without thinking about doing them.blanking out things and takeing deep breaths is how i go to sleep at night.I believe my mother told me Ive always smiled.Even as a baby.Im always spectator. This goes with my nurseing job.comes very easy to me,and words are things. If you leave them in the air long enough they will come to be.I can say a pts.name that i havent seen in a long time and within a week he is on our unit. Its like calling them in.Pretty strange huh!Thank for the info for thanksgiveing though. If more people would do these things there lives would be so much better.
An addendum…other than serial killers and member of the Manson Family and similar human beings who have been convicted of the most disturbing crimes are not incarcinatef for life, and are not made outcasts for their entire lives. Yet, if one makes a very, very MINOR error on certain internet newsgroups of forums they are more harshly treated than the most horrible criminals in our society. And instead of treating them with kindness and compassion and understanding for their most minor trasgressions they are BANNED FOR LIVE from certain internet forums, and seen as “unfit” for these forums that as a matter of fact are demonstrating their lack of unconditional love, they are, in fact, demonstrating their very very conditional love which means that if someone does not tow the party line they are cast out, and not even allowed the opportunity to defend themselves, they no longer have a voice, and watch helplessly as those members of the forum who do tow the party line of that forum are allowed to spread vicious likes about the member who has been deemed unworthy to be a part of this so called group of people who preach unconditional love, but this is a lie, as they prach anything but unconditional love and continue to attack the outcast member as that member is helpless to defend themselves against the lies wrongly spread about that person. It seems the more a forum “says” they are advocates of love, communion and universal forgiveness ald love the more they are likely to practice anything but these virtues. I know, i was a victim of one of these forums. I dare you Vishen to not delete this post. Let us see what you do. I wager i come back here tomrrow and this post will have been deleted by you or at the demand of you know who. I guess we shall just have to wait and see.
In Oneness in utmost sinceity,
Emily

Hi Gerald,
Thank you for the exercises - Years ago I did these on a regular basis and it works wonderful. The movie one is very interesting - after doing these I am able to watch my own actions, words and thoughts…. there are times I ask myself (while watching it being said or done) why did I do or say that? Or did that come from me? A lot can be learned from ego and higher self. Happy Thanksgiving!
In Love & Light,
Rev. Mary Madeline
